WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER HIFU
HIFU typically does not require time away from work or usual daily activities. However, temporary redness, warmth, tightness, tenderness, swelling or bruising can occur while the area settles.
IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS
You may notice mild redness, warmth, tightness or tenderness. Avoid touching, rubbing or applying pressure to the area.
DURING THE FIRST 4–6 HOURS
Redness often begins to settle during this period, although some sensitivity may remain. Keep the skin cool and use gentle skincare only.
DURING THE FIRST 24 HOURS
Tenderness, mild swelling or a bruised feeling may become more noticeable. Avoid alcohol, smoking, strenuous exercise and heat exposure.
DURING THE FIRST 48 HOURS
Mild tenderness or swelling may continue, particularly around the jawline or under-chin area. Avoid sports, gym workouts and excessive physical activity.
DURING DAYS 3–7
The skin usually feels more settled, although minor tenderness may remain. Continue gentle skincare and avoid exfoliating products.
Allow at least one week before an important event so temporary redness, swelling or tenderness has time to settle.
DURING WEEKS 4–6
Early visible changes may begin to develop. Continue daily sunscreen and monitor changes as they develop gradually.
DURING WEEKS 8–12
Changes may become more noticeable as collagen remodelling continues. Attend a review if recommended and discuss whether another treatment consultation is appropriate.
