  • 01/ INITIAL CONSULTATION

    WHAT TO EXPECT

    01/ INITIAL CONSULTATION

Your HIFU appointment begins with a consultation and skin assessment. We use this information to decide whether HIFU is appropriate, which area should be addressed and how the appointment should be planned.

    What we discuss with you

We ask about the concern you have noticed, how long it has been present and what you would like to improve. We also review relevant medical information, previous aesthetic care and anything that may affect when your appointment can proceed.

Please tell us if you have:
    • Active acne, dermatitis, sunburn, infection or broken skin in the planned area
    • Recent laser, radiofrequency, microneedling, skin peel or injectable appointment
    • Previous facial surgery, implanted material or altered sensation in the area
    • A health condition or medication that may affect your care plan after assessment
    • Pregnancy, breastfeeding or another reason you may need to delay your appointment

After reviewing this information, we explain whether HIFU may suit your concern or whether another option should be considered.

    How we plan yoir appointment

We assess your skin laxity, skin quality, facial structure and the area of concern before recommending the next step. With your consent, we may also take clinical photographs to support planning and later review.

    Before proceeding, we explain:
    • Which areas are being assessed
    • How long the appointment is expected to take
    • What the procedure may feel like
    • The likely recovery period
    • When visible changes may begin
The cost and what is included after assessment

  • 02/ HIFU APPOINTMENT

    02/ HIFU APPOINTMENT

We cleanse the planned area before applying gel to the skin. Topical numbing cream can be used where appropriate.

How the Ultrasound energy is delivered

The practitioner moves a handheld HIFU device across the planned area. The device delivers focused ultrasound energy in short passes.

Appointment time depends on the size and number of areas being addressed:
    • A small area, such as the forehead or under-chin area, may take less than 15 minutes.
    • A lower-face, full-face or combined face-and-neck appointment can take around 20–45 minutes.

    What Hifu can feel like

HIFU is not pain-free. You may notice warmth, tingling, pressure or brief periods of sensitivity while the device delivers energy.

The sensation depends on the planned area, device settings and your individual sensitivity. The forehead, jawline and under-chin area can feel more sensitive because they are closer to the bone.

Tell your practitioner if the sensation feels stronger than expected. Your comfort should be checked throughout the appointment.

    03/ RECOVERY & AFTERCARE

    What to expect after Hifu

HIFU typically does not require time away from work or usual daily activities. However, temporary redness, warmth, tightness, tenderness, swelling or bruising can occur while the area settles.

    Immediate afterwards

You may notice mild redness, warmth, tightness or tenderness. Avoid touching, rubbing or applying pressure to the area.

    During the first 4-6 hours

Redness often begins to settle during this period, although some sensitivity may remain. Keep the skin cool and use gentle skincare only.

    During the first 24 hours

Tenderness, mild swelling or a bruised feeling may become more noticeable. Avoid alcohol, smoking, strenuous exercise and heat exposure.

    During the first 48 hours

Mild tenderness or swelling may continue, particularly around the jawline or under-chin area. Avoid sports, gym workouts and excessive physical activity.

    During days 3-7

The skin usually feels more settled, although minor tenderness may remain. Continue gentle skincare and avoid exfoliating products.

Allow at least one week before an important event so temporary redness, swelling or tenderness has time to settle.

    During weeks 4-6

Early visible changes may begin to develop. Continue daily sunscreen and monitor changes as they develop gradually.

    During weeks 8-12

Changes may become more noticeable as collagen remodelling continues. Attend a review if recommended and discuss whether another treatment consultation is appropriate.
