Benefits
Treatment of acne scarring with laser can effectively and efficiently reduce redness. Acne scarring can effect both light and dark patients and untreated acne scarring can take 2-12 months (or 3 years or longer for some cases) to fade.
- Softer-looking scar texture: Selected treatments may reduce the visible depth or contrast of certain acne scars.
- More even-looking skin: Treatment may improve selected areas of uneven colour or surface texture.
- Support for collagen remodelling: Some procedures create a controlled response that may support gradual collagen renewal.
- Treatment matched to your concern: We discuss options according to your scar pattern, skin type, medical history and preferred recovery window.
- 01/ CONSULTATION AND SCAR ASSESSMENT

WHAT TO EXPECT
01/ CONSULTATION AND SCAR ASSESSMENT
Your consultation begins with an assessment of the changes you have noticed in your skin. We assess whether the area is an indented acne scar, a red or brown post-acne mark, or a combination of texture and colour changes.
We may assess:
- The scar’s shape, depth and location
- Whether the scar is tethered beneath the skin
- Your skin type and risk of pigment changes
- Current or recent active acne
- Previous acne and scar treatments
- Relevant medical history and current medicines
- Your treatment goals and recovery preferences
You do not need to select a procedure before attending. We will explain which options may be suitable, what alternatives are available and what level of improvement may be realistic.
The consultation also covers possible discomfort, downtime, treatment timing and cost. You will have an opportunity to ask questions before giving consent.
If treatment is clinically appropriate and available, it may be performed during the same appointment after you have received the relevant information and provided informed consent. You may also choose to arrange treatment for a later date after considering the options discussed.
- 02/ TREATMENT

02/ TREATMENT
The treatment process varies according to the procedure recommended for you. We prepare the treatment area and may take standardised clinical photographs with your consent to support treatment planning and review.
Comfort measures, including topical anaesthetic, may be considered where appropriate. Your practitioner will then perform the selected treatment using a plan based on the treatment area and your skin.
Appointment length varies according to the procedure, treatment area and preparation required. We will discuss your estimated treatment time during your consultation.
Temporary changes after treatment may include:
- Temporary redness
- Swelling or tenderness
- Bruising
- Pinpoint bleeding or skin sensitivity, depending on the procedure
These reactions do not occur in the same way for every treatment or patient. Your practitioner will explain procedure-specific risks and the signs that require further advice before you proceed.
- 03/ AFTERCARE AND RECOVERY

03/ AFTERCARE AND RECOVERY
Aftercare and recovery depend on the procedure performed and how your skin responds. We will provide instructions specific to your treatment, including skincare, sun protection and when to resume normal activities.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER TREATMENT
- Protect the treated area from rubbing and scratching.
- Follow any cleansing, cooling or dressing instructions provided.
- Use only the skincare products recommended for your treatment and recovery stage.
DURING THE FIRST 24–48 HOURS
- Avoid excessive heat and direct sun exposure as advised.
- Pause intense exercise when recommended by your practitioner.
- Avoid strong active skincare until the treated area has settled.
- Follow specific advice about makeup, cleansing and moisturiser use.
DURING THE FIRST WEEK
- Use a gentle skincare routine during recovery.
- Avoid exfoliants, acids, retinoids and abrasive products until advised.
- Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher when appropriate.
- Do not pick flaking skin, crusting or healing areas.
BEFORE ANOTHER SKIN TREATMENT
Do not undergo another laser, microneedling or skin procedure until the area has recovered. Your practitioner will advise when it may be appropriate to resume other treatments.
Contact TAEGA promptly if you experience severe pain, increasing swelling, blistering, signs of infection or unexpected pigment changes. You should also contact us when a reaction worsens instead of gradually settling.
